Use Change Cockpit to review a change process with its related objects, tasks, available actions, and readiness checks in one workspace. It helps you identify the next action while keeping the selected change context visible. The process and actions depend on the loaded objects and your platform configuration.
Load the change context
- Open Change Cockpit and drag in the change object you want to investigate.
- Check the header to confirm the loaded context. If Start a change process appears instead, review the process choices before creating new change records.
- Open the affected-items counter to inspect the objects included in the change context.
- Open the change-tasks counter to review related tasks and identify work that still needs attention.
- Review Change Journey to understand the current stage and the surrounding process steps. Expand the section if it is collapsed.
Explore the available views
Action Details explains the selected action and its context. Navigation Map helps you inspect connections. Lifecycle Matrix provides a view of lifecycle context across the involved objects. Knowledge Thread offers graph exploration of the connected product information.
Switch views to answer a specific question, then return to Action Details when preparing an operation. A record visible in the wider change context is not necessarily the target of the action currently selected.
Review rules and the action target
Open the rules sidebar to inspect passed checks, warnings, and failures. Use the results to identify missing information or relationships and to understand why an action may be unavailable.
In Available Actions, check the object selector before choosing a command. Actions apply to the selected object and can include updating records, managing relationships, or advancing lifecycle state when permitted. Read the action details and any confirmation before proceeding.
Readiness signals help explain the current context. The platform still validates the requested operation, including access rights, lifecycle conditions, and configured methods.
Complete an action and verify
Resolve the relevant blockers, perform the intended action, and wait for the result. Review the object’s new state, related tasks, and Change Journey afterwards. Different change processes can involve different objects and sequences; follow the process shown for your loaded context.
Troubleshooting
If no useful context loads, confirm that the selected object belongs to a supported change process and that its required relationships are available. If an action is disabled, inspect the rules sidebar, selected target object, and your permissions.
If a counter or stage is unexpected, inspect the underlying records and relationships. Refresh the context after a successful operation if its displayed readiness information has not yet updated.
