Use the Workflow widget to inspect process steps, follow connections, and review workflow design. It can display a reusable Workflow Template or a Workflow instance prepared for particular work. Check which kind of object is open before making changes, because a template defines a reusable process and an instance carries its own execution context.
Open and read a workflow
- Open a Workflow widget and drag in an existing Workflow or Workflow Template. In the newer interface, the empty view also offers browsing and creation options.
- Check the object name and revision. Read the nodes as process steps and follow the connections to understand possible paths.
- Select a node to inspect its information. In the newer editor, double-click a node to open its configuration.
- Use the available zoom, fit, and layout controls to make the process readable. Expand the widget for larger processes.
Where available, Design shows the process graph, Performance provides execution information for a loaded workflow, and Content shows linked objects. The tabs and controls can differ between saved widget versions.
Prepare a design change
Choose Edit when it is available and you have permission to modify the loaded object. Review the existing process before adding nodes or changing connections. Confirm the starting node and inspect the settings, assignments, and policies relevant to each step.
The newer editor provides node creation and library controls, connection handles, and design checks. Use Checks to review blocking issues and warnings before saving. A visually connected graph still needs valid node settings and process rules.
Save and start are separate actions
Review the final design, choose Save, and wait for confirmation. Saving persists supported design changes; it does not start execution.
To use a reusable process, initialize a Workflow instance from the appropriate template, review its content and assignments, and then use Start Workflow when it is ready. Follow the separate command guide for starting a prepared instance. Completing work proceeds through the workflow’s configured tasks and rules.
Troubleshooting
If no nodes appear, confirm that you loaded a Workflow or Workflow Template and have access to its related steps. If Edit or Save is unavailable, check permissions, reservation status, and lifecycle restrictions.
If the design will not save, resolve the displayed validation issues and confirm the required node settings. If the process has not advanced after saving, check whether the instance was started and whether its current tasks or approval conditions still require action.
