Connects a Product, Program, or Project to an Item identified as its end item.
When to use it
Use End Item to identify the item representing the end product within a Product, Program, or Project context.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates the records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Product, Program, Project.
- To: Item.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended Item onto the Project it relates to. Select End Item, review the source, target, and any offered values, then confirm.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and choose the target and End Item relationship from the available options.
- Review the resulting connection in the structure or related information. Check the selected records, their versions where applicable, and the relationship filters if the link is not visible.
Example
Pump Redesign is connected to Pump P-100 as its End Item. The pump’s internal component structure still uses Subitem connections to its housing and seals.
What to check
The work or product context identifies its end item. Check the chosen engineering definition and revision before review or delivery.
Choosing the relationship
End Item is non-structure even though it can carry usage information such as quantity or unit of measure. Use Subitem for BOM children and Product – Item for a general product-to-engineering association.
