When to use it
Use Product – Project when development or related work needs to be associated with the product it supports.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates the records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Product.
- To: Project.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended Project onto the Product it relates to. Select Product – Project, review the source, target, and any offered values, then confirm.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and choose the target and Product – Project relationship from the available options.
- Review the resulting connection in the structure or related information. Check the selected records, their versions where applicable, and the relationship filters if the link is not visible.
Example
Industrial Pump P-Series is connected to Pump Redesign. The Project holds the coordinated work, while the Product supplies the offering’s context.
What to check
The product and project are associated without becoming a parent-child project hierarchy. Users can locate the work relevant to the offering.
Choosing the relationship
Choose Product – Project for the product’s related initiative. Project – Task organizes activities within the project. Connecting a project does not imply every project deliverable is part of the product definition.
