Connects an eligible work record to the Person, Role, Business Unit, Team, or Group responsible for it. The Assignee link identifies who is expected to act.
When to use it
Use Assignee to identify the person or responsibility record expected to act on eligible work.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates the records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Task, Node, Node Template, Workflow, Category, Issue, Project, Change Task, Change Order, Milestone, Phase, Change Request.
- To: Role, Person, Business Unit, Team, Group.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended Person onto the Task it relates to. Select Assignee, review the source, target, and any offered values, then confirm. For a Workflow or Workflow Template, use the workflow tools to manage this relationship instead.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and choose the target and Assignee relationship from the available options.
- Review the resulting connection in the structure or related information. Check the selected records, their versions where applicable, and the relationship filters if the link is not visible.
Example
Review Pump Manual is connected to Jordan Lee through Assignee. The task description and due date explain the activity Jordan is expected to perform.
What to check
The work record has an identified responsibility. Review the assignment together with the activity, dates, and instructions.
Choosing the relationship
Assignee is non-structure. Assignment does not complete the task or change ownership automatically. For task work, the Assign Task command provides the available assignment process.
