Connects an Item, Document, or Drawing to a File supplied as an additional representation or format.
When to use it
Use Additional Formats when another representation of the same managed information needs to remain associated with the record.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates the records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Item, Document, Drawing.
- To: File.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended File onto the Drawing it relates to. Select Additional Formats, review the source, target, and any offered values, then confirm.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and choose the target and Additional Formats relationship from the available options.
- Review the resulting connection in the structure or related information. Check the selected records, their versions where applicable, and the relationship filters if the link is not visible.
Example
Housing Drawing D-100 has its main drawing content and an additional PDF representation. The PDF is connected through Additional Formats so users can identify it as another representation.
What to check
Users can reach another representation from the same managed record. Review the format and version context before using it.
Choosing the relationship
Use Additional Formats for another representation, File for associated main content, and Viewer for a viewing representation. A new format does not establish a new drawing revision.
