Connects two Nodes to describe a route between steps in a particular workflow.
When to use it
Use Transition when you need to record this connection between the source and target records. Transition describes a route between Nodes.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Node.
- To: Node.
How to use it
- Use the workflow tools to manage the Transition connection for the intended process. Select the relevant workflow, template, or step and use its available controls to associate the records.
- Review the source and target records in the workflow context and confirm the intended connection.
- Check the result using the workflow’s process controls. Workflow-related connections are the exception to creating relationships by dropping records into a Structure widget.
Example
Technical Review (Node) is connected to Release Review (Node) through Transition. The association lets readers follow the related information without creating a hierarchy. The process settings determine when the route is followed.
Choosing the relationship
Transition describes a route between Nodes. Workflow – Node identifies which steps belong to the workflow.
