Places a Node within a Workflow’s process structure.
When to use it
Use Workflow – Node to identify a process step within a workflow instance.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Structure. Places the target record within the source record’s hierarchy.
- From: Workflow.
- To: Node.
How to use it
- Use the workflow tools to manage nodes for the intended Workflow or Workflow Template, as applicable. Select the correct workflow record and follow its available process for adding or associating nodes.
- Review the selected records and their relationship in the workflow context. Use the workflow’s normal controls to manage its process.
- Check the resulting connection and the selected record versions where applicable. Workflow relationships use the workflow tools; creating them by dropping records into a Structure widget is not the recommended procedure.
Example
Pump Manual Approval contains Technical Review as a Node. The step is part of the process structure rather than the document being reviewed.
What to check
The Node belongs to the Workflow’s process structure. Check its role and assignments within the intended workflow.
Choosing the relationship
Workflow – Node identifies a step. Workflow – Task identifies task work, while Transition connects steps along a route. Prepared workflow structure should follow the process owner’s rules.
