Places a Milestone within a Project, Program, or Phase structure.
When to use it
Use Milestone to place an important event or achievement within a Project, Program, or Phase structure.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Structure. Places the target record within the source record’s hierarchy.
- From: Project, Program, Phase.
- To: Milestone.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended Milestone onto the Project it relates to. Select Milestone, review the source, target, and any offered values, then confirm.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and choose the target and Milestone relationship from the available options.
- Review the resulting connection in the structure or related information. Check the selected records, their versions where applicable, and the relationship filters if the link is not visible.
Example
Pump Redesign contains Prototype Ready as a Milestone. Its description explains the achievement the team expects to track at that point.
What to check
The Milestone belongs in the source record’s structure. Review its intended date, description, and completion information.
Choosing the relationship
Use Milestone for a significant event and Project – Task for work activities. Structural membership does not by itself establish that the event has occurred or all supporting work is finished.
