Use the PLM and PDM mode selector to adjust the tools displayed in Nora IPLM. Both modes provide access to product data, while PLM mode includes additional lifecycle-management capabilities. Switching modes changes the available navigation options; it does not modify your product data.
Switch between PLM and PDM modes
- Locate the PLM–PDM selector in the upper-left corner of the application.
- Select PLM or PDM.
- Review the left navigation panel after the selected mode becomes active.
The highlighted option indicates the current mode. Available widgets and sections can also depend on your account permissions and the platform configuration.

Use PDM mode
Select PDM when you want to focus on product data management tasks. Depending on the configuration, the available tools can include Details, Structure, Navigator, Viewer, Comparison, Desktop, Table, Workflow, CAD, Dashboards, Quick Access, Lists, and Clipboard.
Use the relevant widget to inspect, organize, compare, or work with product data.
Use PLM mode
Select PLM when you need the broader product lifecycle management workspace. PLM mode includes the core product data tools and can provide additional capabilities such as Kanban, Timeline, Cockpits, Change Cockpit, MBOM Cockpit, and Insights.
These tools support lifecycle-oriented activities such as planning work, reviewing timelines, managing changes, working with manufacturing structures, and examining insights.
Understand mode behavior
PLM and PDM modes are different views of the same platform environment. Switching between them changes which tools are shown in the navigation panel.
The active project, dashboard, and open tabs remain part of your current workspace. Changing the mode does not convert, duplicate, or delete objects.
Some tools can be available in both modes, while others appear only in PLM mode. The exact set of tools depends on the enabled modules, system configuration, and your permissions.
Troubleshooting
If the expected tools do not appear after switching modes, confirm that the correct mode is highlighted and refresh the application.
If a widget or cockpit is missing, check whether the corresponding module is enabled and whether your account has permission to use it.
If the mode selector is unavailable, contact your administrator to confirm that both PLM and PDM modes are enabled for your environment.
