Connects an eligible record to a Person, Group, Workflow Template, or Workflow associated with approval. Connection details can record the approval round, status, decision, and comments.
When to use it
For change records, use the Change Cockpit as the main UI to manage the record and its relationships. Use Approver when you need to record this connection between the source and target records. Approver identifies approval participants or an approval process.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Eligible managed records, including Document.
- To: Person, Group, Workflow Template, Workflow.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended Person onto the Document it relates to. Choose Approver, review the direction and any offered values, then confirm. When either selected record belongs to a workflow process, use the workflow tools for that connection.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and select the target with the Approver relationship.
- Review the resulting connection and the selected record versions where applicable. Check the displayed relationship filters if the connection is not visible.
Example
Operating Manual P-100 (Document) is connected to Jordan Lee (Person) through Approver. The association lets readers follow the related information without creating a hierarchy. Being linked as an approver does not itself record a completed approval decision.
Choosing the relationship
Approver identifies approval participants or an approval process. A connection alone does not establish that an approval decision has been completed.
