Connects an Item to a Change Request, Change Order, or Change Task associated with it.
When to use it
The Change Cockpit is the main UI for managing change types and their relationships. Use Change when you need to record this connection between the source and target records. Change reads from Item to a change record.
Records and direction
- Relationship type: Non-structure. Associates records without creating a parent-child hierarchy.
- From: Item.
- To: Change Request, Change Order, Change Task.
How to use it
- Create the relation with drag and drop in a Structure widget: drag the intended Change Request onto the Item it relates to. Choose Change, review the direction and any offered values, then confirm.
- Alternatively, use Connect from the source record and select the target with the Change relationship.
- Review the resulting connection and the selected record versions where applicable. Check the displayed relationship filters if the connection is not visible.
Example
Seal S-10 (Item) is connected to Improve Seal Design (Change Request) through Change. The association lets readers follow the related information without creating a hierarchy.
Choosing the relationship
Change reads from Item to a change record. Affected Item reads from the investigation or change record to affected information.
