The Finalize command allows authorized users to move an object to the final state of its lifecycle in Nora IPLM. This command is used to mark an object as complete and ready for use, ensuring that only validated and approved data is consumed by downstream processes. As a result, finalized objects provide a stable and reliable reference across manufacturing, sourcing, and other PLM activities.
Why Use the “Finalize” Command
Teams use the Finalize command to mark objects as complete and ready for downstream use. It provides a clear completion point in the lifecycle and ensures that only stable, approved data is treated as final.
You can use this command when:
- An object is considered complete and no further changes are expected
- Externally imported or legacy data needs to be made immediately usable
- A full lifecycle progression is not required or needs to be bypassed
Where to Find the “Finalize” Command
You can access the Finalize command from several places in the platform. This makes it easy to use during daily work.
- From the right-click menu of any object
- From the command bars in all widgets
- From object lists
- From the search pane
The command is available in all views and contexts within Nora IPLM.
How to Use the “Finalize” Command
1. Select the Object
Select one or more objects that are eligible for finalization.
You can select objects from any widget, list, or the search pane.
Then, open the right-click menu or use the command bar.
Click Finalize to continue.
2. Review the Finalize Dialog
Finalize modal window opens.
In this window, you can add an optional comment.
Use this comment to explain the reason for finalizing the object.
3. Complete the Finalization
Click the OK button in the modal window.
The system moves the object to the next lifecycle state.
After that, a notification appears in the lower-left corner to confirm the action.
Additional Notes
Optional comments remain visible for future reference.
You can find them in the object’s Information pane, under the Comments tab.
