The Connect To Workflow command allows you to link an object to an existing workflow template in Nora IPLM. With this command, you can initialize a workflow or both initialize and start it directly from the object. As a result, you do not need to create a new workflow from scratch for each object.
In addition, this command opens a modal pop-up window, so you can complete the action without navigating to a different screen. Therefore, workflow assignment becomes faster and easier.
Moreover, when a workflow is created from a template, you can give it a custom name. This helps you track and manage workflows more clearly across the system.
Supported Object Types
You can use the Connect To Workflow command only with specific object types. This helps keep workflows structured and predictable.
You can connect the following objects to workflows:
- Issue
- Document
- Drawing
- Item
- Problem Report

How to Use “Connect To Workflow”
1. Select the Object
First, select the object you want to connect to a workflow.
Next, click Connect To Workflow from the toolbar or the right-click menu.
2. Choose a Workflow Template
Then, a modal window opens.
Here, select the workflow template you want to use.
This step lets you reuse predefined workflow logic. As a result, you do not need to build a workflow from scratch.
3. Select the Relationship Type
Next, choose how the object should connect to the workflow.
You can select one of the following options:
- Attachment – adds the object as a reference in the workflow
- Workflow Content – uses the object directly inside the workflow steps
This choice controls how the object appears and behaves during the workflow.
4. Name the Workflow
After that, enter a clear and meaningful name for the workflow.
This name helps you find and manage the workflow later.
5. Initialize or Start the Workflow
Finally, choose how to run the workflow:
- Initialize the workflow only
- Initialize and Start the workflow immediately
Once you complete the action, the system connects the object to the workflow.
