The Disconnect command lets users remove relationships between connected objects in Nora IPLM. In PLM systems, relationships define how objects interact and depend on each other. Therefore, managing these links correctly is critical.
With the Disconnect command, teams can update product structures without deleting the objects themselves. As a result, data stays accurate while objects remain available for reuse. This approach supports clean relationship management throughout the product lifecycle.
Why Use the “Disconnect” Command
During product development, relationships often change. For example, a component may move to a different structure, or a dependency may no longer apply. In such cases, the Disconnect command provides a safe solution.
You can use this command when:
- A relationship was created by mistake
- A parent–child link is no longer valid
- A product structure needs reorganization
Importantly, this command removes only the relationship. The related objects stay unchanged in the system.
Where to Find the “Disconnect” Command
You can access the Disconnect command only in contexts where relationships are visible and manageable. This design prevents accidental changes in unrelated areas.
You can find the command in the following locations:
- From the Structure Widget toolbar
- From the Timeline Widget toolbar
- From the right-click menu of objects displayed in the Structure Widget, under Structure Commands
- From the right-click menu of objects displayed in the Timeline Widget
- From the toolbar of any tab in the object’s Relation pane
- From the right-click menu of objects listed in any tab of the object’s Relation pane
How to Use the “Disconnect” Command
1. Select the Object or Relationship
First, select the object or objects whose relationship you want to remove.
Then, click the Disconnect command from the relevant toolbar or from the right-click menu.
Then, click Disconnect to continue.
2. Review the Relation Modification Dialog
After that, a Relation Modification modal window opens.
Here, review the relationship details carefully, including:
- Relationship type
- Relationship name
- Parent object name
- Child object name
This review step helps prevent unintended changes.
3. Confirm the Disconnection
Finally, click the Confirm button in the modal window.
The system removes the selected relationship immediately.
As confirmation, a notification appears in the lower-left corner of the platform.
Additional Notes
- The Disconnect command never deletes objects.
- It only removes the selected relationship between them.
Because of this, teams can manage changes confidently and safely.
