How to Upload Office Documents Using the Desktop Widget in Nora IPLM

Purpose

The Desktop Widget in Nora IPLM allows users to upload active Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) directly from their computer into the platform. This feature streamlines document creation and ensures seamless integration with Nora IPLM when using desktop Office applications.

Requirements

• Nora IPLM Desktop Services Windows app must be installed on your computer.
• The Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) must be running with the document you want to upload.
• The user must have permissions to create documents in the desired workspace or widget.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the Desktop Widget

• In Nora IPLM, open the Desktop Widget from your dashboard or sidebar.

2. Select the Office Application

• In the dropdown menu at the top-right corner of the Desktop Widget, select the active Office application where your document is open (e.g., Word or Excel).

3. Get Data from the Active Document

• Click Get Data. The Desktop Widget will detect the active document in the selected Office application.

4. Sync Data to Nora IPLM

• Click Sync Data. The Office document will automatically be uploaded as a Document object in Nora IPLM.

5. Fill in Additional Attributes (Optional)

• You can enter Name, Description, Document Type, or other relevant fields before or after syncing, depending on your workflow.

6. View the Document

• Once synced, the document opens automatically in the Details Widget.
• To view it in the Viewer Widget, you can:
  1. Click Open in Viewer in the Details Widget command bar.
  2. Right-click the document object and select Open in Viewer.
  3. Drag and drop the document into the Viewer Widget.
