The Flat Mode in the Structure Widget provides a non-hierarchical view of your structure. It allows users to see all elements in a structure as a flat list while still keeping track of their levels within the hierarchy. This mode is useful for quickly reviewing all items without navigating a tree structure.
Accessing Flat Mode
- Open the Structure Widget.
- Click the Structure Options panel.
- Under Mode, select Flat.
Features of Flat Mode
- Multi-Instance View: All elements in the structure are displayed in a single, non-hierarchical list.
- Level Indicator: The Level column shows the depth of each object relative to the root. The root object has a level of 0, and children increment by level number.
- Quick Overview: Easily scan and filter elements without expanding or collapsing nodes.
- Compatibility: Works with all object types that exist in the structure, including items, documents, and sub-assemblies.
Key Notes
- Flat Mode does not change the underlying structure or relationships between objects. It only affects the visual representation.
- The hierarchy is still preserved internally, allowing you to switch back to normal structure mode without losing any data.
- This mode is particularly helpful for mass updates, filtering, and exporting lists.
