Nora IPLM allows users to open the same objects in different widgets to view and manage data from multiple perspectives. This capability helps users switch between views such as tables, charts, or detailed layouts while staying focused on the same objects.
Since each widget presents data in a specific format, opening objects in different widgets makes it easier to analyze, review, and manage product information without repeating actions or losing context.
Why Open Objects in Different Widgets
During daily PLM work, users often need to look at the same objects in different ways. For example, a user may start with a list view, then move to a detailed view, or analyze the same data visually in a chart.
Instead of navigating away or rebuilding selections, Nora IPLM lets users open selected objects directly in another widget. As a result, teams work more efficiently and keep their workflow uninterrupted.
You can use this capability when:
- Objects need to be reviewed in another widget format
- Data must be analyzed from different perspectives
- Users want to continue working with the same objects in a new view
Importantly, opening objects in different widgets only changes how the data is displayed. It does not modify, move, or duplicate any object in Nora IPLM.
Where to Access “Open In” Options
You can open objects in different widgets from multiple locations within the platform. This flexibility makes the feature easy to use in various contexts.
The Open In options are available:
- From the right-click menu of selected objects, under the Open In submenu
- From the widget toolbar, under the Open In submenu
In both cases, the available options depend on the selected objects and the target widget.
How to Open Objects in Another Widget
1. Select the Object(s)
First, select one or more objects that you want to open in a different widget.
You can make selections directly within any widget.
Then, open the right-click menu or use the widget toolbar.
Next, expand the Open In submenu.
2. Choose a Widget
From the Open In submenu, select the target widget.
For example, choose Open In Table, Open In Charts, or Open In Details.
Nora IPLM opens the selected objects in the chosen widget automatically.
3. Check Widget Compatibility
When multiple objects are selected, some Open In options may be unavailable.
This occurs when the target widget supports only single-object interaction.
In such cases, incompatible options appear disabled to guide the user.
Additional Notes
- Open In options appear only when the selected objects support the target widget
- Widgets designed for single-object use disable Open In options for multiple selections
- Opening objects in different widgets affects only the view, not the data
