The Demote command allows authorized users to move an object back to a previous lifecycle state in Nora IPLM. You can use this command as long as the object is not in the initial lifecycle state. This flexibility helps teams revise, correct, or rework objects after they move to a later stage.
This command supports controlled backward movement in the lifecycle. Because of this, teams can respond to changes without losing traceability or breaking lifecycle rules.
Why Use the “Demote” Command
Teams often need to revisit earlier stages during product development. The Demote command supports this need in a safe and structured way.
You can use this command when:
- A design change requires updates
- A validation issue needs correction
- Approval feedback requests revisions
However, objects in the initial lifecycle state cannot be demoted. This rule protects process integrity while allowing flexibility where needed.
