Lock and Unlock Dashboards, Tabs, and Widgets in Nora IPLM
Purpose
The Lock and Unlock feature in Nora IPLM allows you to protect dashboards, tabs, and widgets from accidental changes while still enabling interactive use. This ensures your layouts remain organized and prevents unintentional modifications.
When to Use
- You want to prevent accidental removal or repositioning of dashboards, tabs, or widgets.
- You want to allow interactivity with widgets (e.g., dropping objects or running filters) without risking layout changes.
- You are sharing dashboards with other users and want to maintain a consistent layout.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Lock a Dashboard
- Open the dashboard you want to lock.
- Click the Lock icon in the top-left corner of the dashboard name or in the left panel → Dashboards menu.
- Locking a dashboard automatically locks all tabs and widgets within it.
- Locked dashboards cannot be removed unless they are unlocked.
Unlock a Dashboard
- Click the Lock icon on the top-left corner of the dashboard name or in the Dashboards menu.
- All child elements (tabs and widgets) will also be unlocked automatically.
Lock Individual Tabs
- Navigate to the tab you want to lock.
- Click the Lock icon in the top-left corner of the tab name or in the Dashboards menu in the left panel.
- Locked tabs cannot be deleted or moved.
- Tabs can be unlocked at any time by clicking the lock icon again.
Lock Individual Widgets
- Locate the widget you want to lock.
- Click the Lock icon in the top-right corner of the widget header.
- Locked widgets cannot be moved or closed.
- Users can still interact with locked widgets—drop objects on them, run filters, or fetch data.
- Unlock a widget at any time by clicking the lock icon again.
Tips & Notes
- Locking a dashboard locks all children, but individual tabs and widgets can still be unlocked to allow selective flexibility.
- Locked elements display lock icons:
- Dashboards and tabs: top-left corner of the name or in the Dashboards menu in the left panel.
- Widgets: top-right corner of the widget header.
- Use this feature to protect complex dashboards or templates while maintaining interactivity for end users.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot remove a locked dashboard, tab, or widget: Ensure the element is unlocked first.
- Widgets are not movable: Check if the widget is locked. Unlock to reposition or remove.
