Purpose
The Mass Update command in Nora IPLM allows users to quickly update the same attribute across multiple objects within a table-based widget. This feature saves time, reduces repetitive work, and ensures consistency when updating object data.
Requirements
- The objects you want to update must be visible in a table-based widget (e.g., Table Widget or Structure Table in table view).
- The column representing the attribute you want to update must be editable. Only editable columns can be updated using the Mass Update command.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Select Multiple Objects:
- In the table, click the checkboxes next to the objects you want to update. You can select as many objects as needed.
- Open Mass Update:
- Right-click on the column header of the attribute you want to update.
- From the context menu, select Mass Update.
- Enter the New Value:
- In the Mass Update panel that appears, enter the value you want to apply to all selected objects.
- Save Changes:
- Click Save to apply the changes. The new value will be updated across all selected objects in the chosen attribute.
Tips & Notes
- Only editable attributes can be updated. If the column is read-only, the Mass Update option will not be available.
- Changes are applied immediately to the selected objects but these changes need to be saved to make the changes permanent.
- Use Mass Update carefully to avoid accidentally overwriting critical data across multiple objects.
- This command works best for attributes like priority, description, due date, or custom fields where batch updates are needed.
Summary
The Mass Update command in table-based widgets allows users to efficiently apply the same change to multiple objects at once. By selecting objects, opening the column header menu, entering the new value, and saving, users can maintain consistency, save time, and improve productivity in Nora IPLM.
