The Connect to Change Request command allows you to manage change requests (CRs) for affected items. You can either create a new Change Request or connect to an existing one, ensuring changes are properly tracked and categorized.
Availability
- The command appears under the Change Management command group.
- It becomes available once you select an item-typed object.
Key Functions
- Create or Connect
- Create New Change Request: Start a new CR and link the selected items.
- Find Existing Change Request: Search for and connect to an open CR.
- Assign Operation Categories
For each affected item, select the operation category:- Modify – Update or adjust the item.
- Release – Approve and release the item for use.
- Revise – Create a new revision of the item.
- Make Obsolete – Retire the item from use.
- Ownership Rules
- The owner of a newly created CR will be the user who executes this command.
- Restrictions
- An item can only be connected to one active Change Request at a time.
Example Workflow
- Select one or more items you want to include in a CR.
- Run the Connect to Change Request command.
- Choose whether to create a new CR or connect to an existing CR.
- Enter the CR name and required details.
- Assign an operation category to each affected item.
- Confirm to finalize the connection.
Notes
- All affected items must have a defined operation category.
- The command is available across objects wherever CRs can be initiated or linked.
