The Connect to Change Order command helps you manage change orders (COs) for selected items. You can either create a new Change Order or connect to an existing one, making it easy to track execution steps and categorize actions for each affected item.
Availability
- Located under the Change Management command group.
- Becomes available once you select an item-typed object.
Key Functions
Create or Connect
- Create New Change Order – Start a new CO and link the selected items.
- Find Existing Change Order – Search for and connect to an open CO.
Assign Operation Categories
For each affected item, choose one of the following:
- Modify – Apply design or data changes.
- Release – Approve and release the item for production or use.
- Revise – Generate a new revision as part of the CO.
- Make Obsolete – Retire the item from active use.
Ownership Rules
- The user who executes the command becomes the owner of a newly created CO.
Restrictions
- An item can only be connected to one active Change Order at a time.
Example Workflow
- Select one or more items to include in a CO.
- Run the Connect to Change Order command.
- Choose to create a new CO or connect to an existing CO.
- Enter the CO name and required details.
- Assign an operation category to each affected item.
- Confirm to finalize the connection.
Notes
- All affected items must have an assigned operation category.
- The command is available wherever Change Orders can be initiated or linked.
